001 ❄ AUDIO
I wanted to go to the Wall, stupid. I don't care about devices. I only want to know where the docks are. And where Saltpans went.
[There's a slight pause, after which the girl speaking only sounds more agitated.] How can I ask this to explain? It doesn't know anything. You don't, either, if you think this can talk to me. I'll find someone else if you're too stupid to help me. I bet you don't even know what direction north is.

voice;
[Pause.]
You've got that, er, little box thing, right? That'll be how you can talk to other people. Sort of like a—erm—telephone? D'you have those in your world?
[Merlin's beard, a witch still finding her footing in a lot of ways with Muggle technology explaining it to a girl who... doesn't have anything like it. This'll be lovely.]
voice;
[Arya sounds no less confused than she did before. Ginny was clearly the best person to ask for an explanation from.]
voice;
[Pause. Okay, how to... hmm. She sounds so young.]
I'm Ginny, by the way. Are you alright?
voice;
I'm fine. I just need to know where the docks are.
voice;
[And then she comes to yet another pause, thinking. Docks? They haven't got any around here. Not that she's seen, anyway. Just the beach and beyond that... Well, Merlin knows how far you can really go.]
I don't know where the docks are. I'm not entirely sure there are any, here. Has anyone told you where this is?
voice;
Not properly.
voice;
[Yeah. Technology. It's sort of a see-it-to-believe-it thing.]
Well, then. It's called the City and it's sort of a... it's a completely different world from home. So whatever it is you're expecting to find or get to—afraid to say that's still where you're from.
voice;
[She doesn't understand this communicator thing in the slightest. She's not sure she likes it just yet.]
Then how do I get back there?
voice;
You can't. [She tries to say this as gently as possible. But she won't lie to the girl, either.] That's up to the deities or the City itself.

So you haven't got magic in your world, then?
voice;
Maybe. I don't know.
